How Do I Know If I need a new Fuse Box?
It’s important that old type fuse boards are replaced by a next generation consumer unit which conforms to meet BS7671 amendment 3, which came into force in January 2015. This is to make sure electrical safety around your home and and the unit must also be installed by a registered electrician.
A consumer unit can be replaced at any time but is often carried out at the same time as a rewiring job, an electrical repair or any other job will need to comply with the new regulations. Before the replacement unit can be installed it’s recommended that an EICR is carried out to make sure the existing wiring system is suitable for the new unit. Once it has been installed our team will commission and certify the installation.

Why do i need a new Fuse Box?
Having an old fuse box does not automatically mean you need to upgrade. As long as it passes an Electrical Installation Condition Report EICR. However it is an indication that the wiring may be old.
A new 17th edition fuse box is a lot safer compared to the old re-wirable fuses in regards to protection against electric shock and also reducing the spread of electric fires started in the fuse box.
